Department of Public Health Dentistry of KVG Dental College and Hospital was established in the year 2006. Situated on the fourth floor of the dental college, it comprises of an undergraduate clinic, postgraduate clinic and an oral health museum. The Post graduation course was initiated in the year of 2014.
The department is headed by Dr. Nusrath Fareed and the faculty is formed by a Professor, two Readers and two Senior lecturers along with the assistance of three Public relation officers.
On an average of 5530 patients are treated in the department alone every year. The department also conducts camps to cater dental services to people in remote areas. In the past five years the department has conducted 290 camps and treated over 32,600 patients. Last year 90 camps were conducted and over 11,200 patients were benefitted by it.
Several nodal centers have been adopted by the department in and around the Sullia Taluq where the treatment is made available to the population. In the year of 2014 the department adopted schools, namely Jyothi high school, Peraje, K.V.G. high school, Kollamogra and Hanumagiri educational institute, Ishwaramangala, where the schoolchildren are screened and provided with preventive, promotive and curative dental care. Along with this we conduct Health Awareness programs in Anganwadis in collaboration with Rotary Club and NSS.
The PG intake is 2 students per year and as of now there are five post graduate students in the department.
